Like the child in this post: https://languageisheartosay.com/2011/05/02/look-mummy-look/ I was similarly amazed on a trip to the coast. I stood on the prom thinking, ‘Great surfing skill’ when I suddenly thought a bit more and noticed the man wasn’t only riding the waves which were crashing in. He was surfing between them, going apparently against the flow, and on the occasional flat bit of water. There was no kite or sail on the board but because I’m able to reason with language I knew he had to be using some form of power. I found out about jetsurfing when I got home!

How do children work these things out? Do they see pictures in their heads which provide their form of thinking? It fascinates me.
